Nicole – Manga Enthusiast and Content Writer
Hello, I’m Nicole; the owner and author of RMR—also known as Romance Manga Recs. ♡ I’ve been in the industry of content creation since 2021, and in 2023 I decided to create this personal blog for fun!
I wanted to share a bit about myself and my experience with manga, so that you can have an idea of the person behind the opinions and recommendations found on this manga review blog. You can also check out more specific information about the blog itself on my About RMR page.
To describe my experience briefly, I have enjoyed romance manga since I was young. From the moment I first discovered manga, I developed a strong interest in them and thus have enjoyed tons of manga titles ever since—and still continue to enjoy them even now, many years later.
Somewhere along the way, I discovered the Webtoon app, which only opened my world more. Whether it be manga, webcomics, manhwa, or anything else—I particularly enjoy romance, and have read many titles in that genre.
Because of my passion for and experience with romance manga, I created RMR in hopes of sharing my good experiences by recommending titles to you, my fellow reader!

That’s pretty much the gist of it. I’m just a huge manga enthusiast who’s read a ton of romance mangas over the years! However, if you want to know even more about my personal experience discovering manga, feel free to read my rambling below:
How My Interest Started
I started reading manga at a pretty young age. The interest started with anime, particularly Sailor Moon, which I watched in dvd format—borrowed from my hometown’s local DVD rental store.
This exposure to Japanese media had me hooked immediately, and I began to explore more and more. This led me to those familiar websites that allowed you to watch a plethora of anime…alongside some rather disturbing advertisements for a kid to witness (haha).
In addition to anime, I naturally discovered manga—which I innocently read for free on some random app from my ipad’s digital store (RIP to both that app and my old ipad). Accessibility to physical options were practically nonexistent in my hometown, as the DVD rental store had limited title availability, and mangas were not sold everywhere as they are today.
Once in a while when I would go out shopping with my mom, we would drive into the city and visit the Barnes & Noble. I would always charge straight to the manga section and sift through all the books excitedly (my mom was not fond of this habit as I typically took much too long).
This was my first and only exposure to physical mangas, although we didn’t visit the book store as often as younger me would have liked!
Although I admit that my earlier methods of reading manga or watching anime weren’t exactly the most helpful to the industry, when considering my age and geographical location at the time, those were almost the only options—and they led me to where I am today: paying for these items with adult money (hooray)!
Not to mention, accessibility of manga has increased quite a lot from when I first discovered them. The manga sections in book stores are now huge, carrying tons of titles. The city I now live in has many bookstores, some even dedicated to manga and Japanese stationary.
Even secondhand stores have a good variety of manga! Not to mention, non-book focused stores like Target or other grocery stores now carry manga, too!
Additionally, many publishers have their own digital reading applications that we readers can readily enjoy endless titles on. This has only allowed my adult self to enjoy manga even more. I want others to also be able to experience and enjoy manga (or other comics) as much as I have, but there’s just so many to choose from now—so I started this blog!
All About Romance
Even as a young girl, the romance genre enticed me. I loved reading shoujo romance mangas. I still enjoy shoujo mangas quite a lot, even if I am very much past the age of their target audience.
As an adult, I have discovered other genres that can involve unique romantic reading experiences, including josei, shounen, and seinen stories, too!
While I do enjoy the usual action-and-adventure mainstream titles that everyone knows and loves, my heart is especially made whole while reading romance. If you are someone who feels the same, I hope my recommendations will be very fulfilling for you!
Bonus: Nicole’s Favorite Titles
I recommend a lot of series on this manga review blog, but some are just extra special to me. In case you were wondering, here are some of my absolute favorite romantic series in no specific order (titles in pink have their full reviews linked):
