Hinata no Blue – Plot Summary
Hinata No Blue is a cute, laid-back school life romance. The main character, Hinata Naru, is a high schooler who’s having some trouble making friends. She’s very shy, but is trying her absolute best to talk to her classmates.
She even changed her whole look since middle school, and coordinated fashionable outfits to wear during her high school career but still can’t seem to hold a proper conversation with anyone.
Since she has yet to make friends, Hinata eats alone in the stairwell. One day she notices the door to the school roof is ajar, and happens to meet the school’s student president, Sora, when she walks out.
After talking and gaining some advice from him, Hinata has a much better experience speaking to her classmates. With her success, going to the roof and reporting her achievements to the president becomes a regular routine.
If you love fluffy, adorable shoujos with super cutesy art styles, almost no drama, and non-problematic characters, Hinata No Blue is the perfect manga choice! It’s a completed series with 24.5 chapters to enjoy, so you can read a finished sweet romance story relatively quickly!
Why I Enjoyed Hinata No Blue
What’s not to like about this cute manga? Adorable art, fun characters, an easy and fluffy plot to enjoy… everything about Hinata No Blue is likable.
I’ve really enjoyed the character design, really sweet story, and the incredibly cute art style the author has given us, haha. The art style gives off a very bubbly and soft shoujo vibe; I really liked it!

The heroine of this story, Hinata, has a very likable personality. She is a determined character who, although obviously shy, is also very brave for reaching out to others again and again. She’s also so passionate about things that it’s both adorable and funny.
Her character is not easily offended and has pretty funny reactions to things when she’s surprised or embarrassed. Even though she’s a bit shy or timid, she still doesn’t really think ill of herself or put herself down. Hinata is great at picking herself up and trying her best for any and every task!
The other two main characters in Hinata No Blue are the student president and vice president of the school, Natsuno Sora and Yuunagi Yoru. They have been close friends from a young age, and have a close bond despite their very different personalities.
Sora’s character is very cute; he loves chocolate and cute things, as well as taking breaks from student council work on the school roof. Sora is very hardworking, but also sort of laid-back and understanding; Yoru, on the other hand, is very strict and even a bit curt (mostly towards Hinata).
He is very protective of Sora and has high expectations for the student council. Some of his dialogue is very funny to me with how strict he is and how he kind of acts superior to everyone; even though he’s actually very nice underneath all of that attitude. Yoru is actually my favorite character in Hinata No Blue.
I really like the relationship between those two! Typically friendship between boys in mangas are shown as playful and boyish, and these two do have a bit of that aspect but they also feel like actual close friends who would do anything to support each other.
They aren’t afraid to be vulnerable or open to each other about their feelings or troubles; and often express their care for each other. I feel like that kind of male friendship representation isn’t normalized enough, and so I really liked seeing it in Hinata No Blue. Just another aspect of this manga that will touch your heart!

Hinata also has childhood friends and new friends in Hinata No Blue that are very cute supporting characters. They don’t play a huge role in the overall story, but I really liked their designs and wanted to mentioned how cute they all were!
We do have a side character (Yurisawa Rui) that comes in and makes things a bit interesting. I don’t want to spoil anything because I actually really like this character, but I will say it isn’t one of those super annoying second lead mean-girl tropes that drags on forever, so no worries about that! This character is really funny, super cute, and not mean at all.
However, I can’t promise that you won’t get second lead syndrome in other aspects. Both of the male leads are very likable in their own way; although it’s obvious who Hinata has feelings for.
Any Cons?
The cons I have for Hinata No Blue are pretty insignificant. The first is that Hinata refers to Sora as “President” and Yoru as “Vice President” for basically the entire manga.
It could make sense in the original Japanese version if she is trying to show respect for their student council positions, however she does this for so long even when I was under the impression that they were all friends. I almost had a hard time remembering the boys’ names for a portion of this story because of it!
Also, some readers may not like Yoru’s personality, but I personally liked his contrast to Sora. Also, he’s not actually mean if you really pay attention… he may be a bit strict though, haha.
Final Thoughts
Hinata No Blue is a romanced-focused school life shoujo, with lots of likable characters and a cute story overall. This manga is just so adorable and so fluffy; it’s a great easy-going read to cleanse your soul after reading a lot of drama-filled or action-packed plots.
Warm your heart and make your day with this sweet, fluffy shoujo romance! There are lots of cute relationships and moments for friendship too, so overall it’s a very sweet story to enjoy. If you’ve read this manga, share your thoughts below!
