If you’re like me and are a sucker for “heroine gets reincarnated into a book” storylines, you should definitely check out Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother.
This story follows Daisy Heidi, a woman who was reborn into a book that she is actually the author of. This fictional book, Why Did the Duke’s Daughter Roll Across the Pumpkin Patch, was a tragic novel about a woman who captured the hearts of 10 different suitors.
Her reincarnated storybook persona at the start is insignificant to the story itself, but because of certain circumstances she is arrested and brought forth to the duke of the region (also known as the main character of the book’s father). Stuck in a panic, she decides to just tell the duke everything about how their world is a storybook.
After realizing his daughter will become a love interest to many men, he gives Daisy a chance to avoid jail time by protecting his daughter!
The fact that the heroine of this Webtoon actually told someone that she was reincarnated into a book, and the fact that she is the author of said book, is what makes this reincarnation story a bit more unique. However, Daisy is not the only writer of her book. She and her 9 close friends wrote it together for fun!
But with that many writers, there are bound to be some plot points and secrets that even Daisy had missed. Reincarnation stories can sometimes get repetitive, but Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother always seems to have fun surprises!
Why I Enjoyed Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother
This cute Webtoon story gives off wholesome, familial vibes. After all, Daisy begins looking after the duke’s daughter Pierta while she is still very young. Even though she’s assigned this task in order to avoid getting put in jail, she also is a very genuine person.
And Pierta is the cutest! She and Daisy develop a close relationship that will warm your heart throughout this cute story. I don’t think Daisy ever imagined befriending the heroine she and her friends wrote, but it turns into a very sweet, lovable relationship!
The main heroine of Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother is a brave and caring person. Her original reason for meeting the duke was caused by her kind heart and desire to help someone. Daisy also genuinely cares for Pierta, and is overall a great character!
Duke Henstone is another nicely designed character in this series. At first he seems cold, scary, and overprotective; but we quickly see his good sides and how much he cares for his daughter. He also cares for those around him, and is very reliable.

The romance in this story is so fun, too. It’s more of a slow burn, but it happens in the cutest of ways! It’s very wholesome, sweet, and very much like a fairytale. And there’s no bigger supporter of the ship than Pierta.
She is a schemer who is determined to keep Daisy in their family forever. It’s hilarious and adorable! She also gets some help from their butler Hadi; which I find hilarious since he technically serves the duke. He plays along with Pierta’s schemes, since he also really wants the duke to get married!
Although the story focuses on the main three characters most of the time, there’s plenty of other likable characters that we get to meet throughout this series. One of my favorite supporting characters is the butler I mentioned, Hadi.
He may serve the duke, but he is very familiar with the main characters and is treated like family. He brings a lot of humor into the story as well! Besides Hadi, we also meet many other side characters who end up playing important roles in the overall plot of Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother.
Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother is well written, but also maintains a storybook sort of feel to it. The plot stays pretty interesting, very wholesome, and even has some comedic elements to it.
The comedy is more of the silly type, and sometimes involves a bit of secondhand embarrassment. The more adventurous or action-filled portions of the story don’t feel extremely serious, and are created with a very fairytale-like approach.
Overall, this story is fun and very adorable. It feels a little bit like a slice of life since we often get to enjoy the daily events the characters experience. I really love the characters, and their fun interactions. The story keeps some interesting conflicts or drama happening to push the story along, while delivering a slow burn romance for us readers to enjoy.
Most of Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother is a wholesome rom-com that focuses primarily on Daisy and the duke’s relationship. Although the original plot was to stop Pierta from meeting potential suitors, the plot develops and changes slowly as more events occur and more characters are brought in.
There is a more familiar manhwa-style storyline along the way that involves the relationship between the duke and the royal empire, which adds a bit of interest and even a second male lead into the mix.
This second male lead is a conflicting character for us readers. We of course want to root for Duke Henstone, but this new character is helpful, likable, and handsome. He may give you second lead syndrome. Luckily, he plays a very important role in the plot of this story, and eventually has to come to terms with the results of his romantic endeavors.
Any Cons?
I don’t have a ton of cons for this cute Webtoon. However, there were a few things I noticed. For one, the art style is fine most of the time. It has a cute, fun, cartoonish look to it and often features a really cute and funny chibi style, too.
Occasionally, however, it looks a bit strange proportion-wise or perhaps rushed. Not during the important parts of the story, thankfully; but enough for me to notice.
Also, this story is a bit of a slow burn, but the interactions between the two love interests happen frequently. It just takes some time for things to be declared official; just a heads up for the readers who prefer quick romance. The romance is also kept very wholesome and sweet during the entire story!

Additionally, the original plot becomes sort of lost after some time. The original plan to stop Pierta from meeting suitors is sort of achieved here and there throughout the story, but feels more like a plot that was forgotten midway and swept under the rug to make way for romance.
Obviously I love romance, but I was hoping to see more exploration of that plot point.
Lastly, I think the only other con for Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother is that it is very storybook-like. The conflicts don’t feel like real threats, and drama is resolved in a predictable way.
All of the main characters are rather perfect, and don’t have many flaws. This is great for readers wanting a laid-back story, but other readers may be looking for something more exciting.
Final Thoughts
Tricked Into Becoming the Heroine’s Stepmother is a very sweet, wholesome Webtoon! It is an enjoyable read that gave me a lot of laughs and giggles, and portrayed a pretty cute, wholesome romance.
It was an easy read without too much drama, and simply warms your heart with its very sweet plot. It’s a great choice for readers wanting a lighthearted romance that will put a smile on their face!
